Helping young professionals succeed in work and life

Welcome World, welcome to my world...

Hi All :) Welcome....

So This is The First Blog post on my Emergen profile and I'm fairly happy with myself for finally sitting down and putting pen to paper...sorry fingertip(s) to keyboard ;)

I'm feeling victorious. I have to share this. I feel utterly victorious and like a winner. You know one of those rare moments when you wake up and feel like anything is possible? That's how I feel.

All because of a cricket match that was won last week. India won at the World Cup Finals this year and it left my entire country and ALL the Indians of the world feeling like 'We are the Champions, my friends, and we'll keep on fighting till the end....' was written just for us. <so, you know now, I'm Indian, originally :)>

WINNING. That Feeling. Like you're part of a team that is winning and on a positive path. When India won after 28 years of World Cup years, we went into a frenzy like never before. One of my friends writes, saying

"When Dhoni (captain) hit that last winning 6, I heard a billion people scream. I've never heard anything like it in all my life."

All this frenzy got me thinking really consciously about what it really takes to be a 'champion' of sorts - be it sports, business, academic pursuits, technology etc etc

What is it about winning that brings about this amazingly positive energy in every human being? Is it because we have to work to win, or because winning only comes after a considerable amount of effort and focussed energy towards a particular task or goal. Do we value it more because of the rewards it reaps and the accolades it brings us? Maybe winning is the mark we make on history, to be remembered long after we are gone.

It's like our one taste of eternity....or the closest we can get to it.

Whilst I was wondering about the nature of winning, the manner in which winning takes place and the pursuit of the win....I also pondered about the fact that it is different for different people. Depending on where anyone is in this life,  goals bring with them challenges that we find monumental at times, but for one person the 'win' would be  to continue to pursue them relentlessly, where as for another person it would be to change the goal entirely! (as I have seen happening many-a-time)

Whatever the definition, or the amount of time it actually takes to get to the win, the amazing feeling it leaves you with is undeniable. Not to forget the absolute feeling of self-fulfillment, making you want to pursue even mightier goals and really challenge the states-quo.

So question is what are the main keys/building blocks/foundations of a winner? How important is a winning attitude and how can we help ourselves to get to that mindset....

< I was going to begin introducing myself and tell you what I do. But I'll leave you all with these thoughts and talk about myself next time :)>

Cheers for listening...reading...lemme know what you think!

Having a clear idea of what you want is definitely important. And giving yourself permission to go after what you want instead of what others think you should go after is important too. Way to go Faye! Love your post! :-D

lol - love your post! winning def is a mindset. even when stuff doesnt turn out right - if the mind set is there - you're pretty much just waiting for a next win. if its not, and you achieve things - you never quite feel like a winner. i think, a successful outcomes is like a cherry on the top. a mindset is the cake. so building  the foundations of a winner ...is even when the rest of the world looking at you would say you're losing, you know, without a shadow of doubt, that you will win - some day soon. lol - thanks for your post and making me think about this!

Fantastic to see you joining us on this blogging journey!

Unfortunately all I have echoing through my head at the moment is Charlie Sheen saying 'WINNING'. My brain has been corrupted!
