Helping young professionals succeed in work and life
OH! The things I could do – if only I could find the time.
Managing your time – whether it be at work, at home, for study or for specific projects is something that we all face. Online there are thousands of suggestions on how to best manage ones time – so many, in fact, that I got a little lost!
As an event co-ordinator, it is imperative to keep have a schedule and keep to it – otherwise events won’t run on time or to their full potential – it’s a skill that is an absolute must! I have calendars, GNATT Charts, Diaries (both physical and online), to do lists and checklists for just about every aspect of my job. I started learning and refining these skills at uni and now; for every new event, for every new project – I put my planning tools – and my time management tools to work, so I have a clear mind in what I am doing and how to achieve set KPI’s (key performance indicators)
They say that those people who are using their time management skills effectively are found to be more creative and far better performers. I think that I work better with other likeminded people who have a clear goal in mind and a step by step progress on how they are going to achieve it – having said that, I have worked with many clients who don’t follow any type of time management skillsets and still manage to get things done! (I don’t know how they can remember all the things they need to – honestly it surprises me!)
