I'd like to introduce to you our newest yGen mentor, David Deane-Spread. We are really fortunate to have his involvement in yGen because he is a leader that truly walks the talk! Check out his profile page below to read about some of his interesting career experiences. His expertise lies in his knowledge and understanding in leadership, business, mastering your attitudes and personal performance.
Here are David's thoughts on a few questions I asked him:
1. What work do you do currently?
Coaching, training, facilitating interactions with boards and C-level executives, specifically for improvements to workplace attitudes and leadership behaviour, on the basis that those two issues are the true foundation of sustainable excellence.
2. What's the most important thing have you learnt from your career journey so far?
Continuous professional/personal development (towards mastery of self and of your purpose that you love) and perseverance (despite all challenges) = your fulfilment. Plus “Focus On your Strengths, Outsource Your Weaknesses”.
3. What are your areas of expertise/knowledge that you could help others with?
Attitudinal Competence; Leadership Behaviour; Perseverance Skills; Discovery of Purpose; Development Pathways; Organic Structuring of Business Model; Dealing with Really Difficult and Sensitive Situations and People.
4. What are some tips for young professionals trying to make it in your industry?
· Remove all fences from around your beliefs – most, if not all, are very limiting.
· Never give up.
· Create a personal/professional development plan and implement it.
· Only do work which you love doing – give the rest away to others who love that work.
· Form a team of advisors/mentors for each area that you wish to master.
· Form a team of helpers who can do that which you cannot or do not wish to do.
· Be generous, humble, respectful and confident always.
· Learn how and when to say ”No” and “Yes” expertly.
