I asked her a few questions about what she does and here is what she said:
1. What work do you do currently?
I'm the A/Group Marketing Manager at Lotterywest. My role includes:
* Ensuring optimum returns to Lotterywest beneficiaries through the strategic management of Lotterywest product portfolios;
* Leading product planning, strategy development, execution, control, analysis and evaluation of all activities associated with our products in a competitive and retail environment;
* Modelling the behaviours and conduct required through the Code of Conduct, and our organisational goals
* Managing relationships with key business partners including marketing agencies and related bodies
2. What's the most important thing have you learnt from your career journey so far?
Managing and leading people is a privilege and can be the most challenging job one can have. However, it is the most rewarding, to see people develop, progress and evolve to roles and organisations that they aspire to is rewarding. Leaders have followers. Leadership is a relationship between those who aspire to lead and those who choose to follow. Leadership is the behaviour of an individual... directing the activities of a group toward a shared goal. I believe it is a very privileged position.
3. What are your areas of expertise/knowledge that you could help others with?
* Excellent leadership and managerial coupled with effective communication and interpersonal skills
* Committed to the development of individuals within and across teams to impart and share knowledge for the benefit of others personal and professional growth
* Supporter of strong based teams that work across business areas to achieve overall corporate goals
* Passion for sales and success
* Motivated, energetic, focussed and innovative
* Ability to quickly adapt to a range of environments and embrace new challenges
* Adept at building and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* High level of autonomy and commitment to exceeding expectations coupled with a strategic approach
4. What are some tips for young professionals trying to make it in your industry?
Always be open to others ideas, expertise and experience
Find mentors both at work, in industry, socially and make the time to meet with them, but know what it is that you want help with
Regardless of where you at with life, you never stop learning
