Book Review: How to Bake a Business.

A really cute book that cashes in on the recent cooking trend, How to Bake a Business covers the very basics right from the start. It looks at whether you should start the business in the first place and gives some really easy ways to crunch the numbers and work out finances. Although I had found that I had past a lot of these stages it was great to be reminded of the proper way to do things and any little things I may have forgotten along the way.It also includes really great recipes, mainly…See More

Competition or a reliable business partner?

I have been involved in a networking group for a while now right from it's beginnings and have been the only makeup artist there for awhile. There has recently been another makeup artist join and I am just so excited. There are times when I feel insecure and the ugly 'she's competition' voice enters my head, but mostly I am so happy about it. I have a reliable and very likable person I can trust to refer work to if I'm too busy and also a… Continue

International Womens day interview

As you may have read I styled the hair and makeup for the International Womens Day Televison Commercial and got to meet Sandra Cook. I asked Sandra the reason behind the commercial and here's what she had to say.

"The reason we made this commercial is that economicSecurity4Women was

given some money from the federal Office of Women to promote

international women's day this year as it is the centenary of the event.

Equal Pay for IWD

International womens day

When I originally heard about a television ad for equal womens pay I thought it was a great cause and would be so much fun to make. When I read the script I was horrified at how bad the situation is. It's hard to believe that living in a "1st world" country this sort of discriminitaion still exists. Women earn an average of 18% less than mentor doing the exact same job. Due to this pay gap this means women need to work an extra 66 days just to earn the same… Continue
