A lot of the time when we think about inspirational people, we automatically think Martin Luther King, Helen Keller, Mother Terissa and so on. But if we just take a step back from our busy lives, we find that inspirational people are all around us. We don't need to go searching for them and they don't need to be world famous. All we need to do is listen, and we may find out about the neighbour who serves meals to the homeless, the single mother who invented something great, or the baker who became a millionaire. These are the people who will truly inspire you because they are proof that anyone can achieve great things.

Over the past few months I have met and become great friends with someone truly inspiring in my life. And like I have said earlier, those who inspire you are usually those who are not famous, but are people you meet. What I find inspiring about this person is the fact that he is only 24 and understands the concepts of greatness, humility, humanity, love, inspiration, passion, wisdom and appreciation. He is some one who has found passion in is life and never stops to reach it. Through him I was able to see that life is not about the title you gain from work, the friends you hang around, what you do or even how how much you earn. After all, what's the point of all that if you hate what you're doing and you have no time to actually "spend" the money that you earn. He inspires me everyday because he pushes me to be the best that I can and the importance to have passion for what you do in life. Sure, everyone experiences hardships every so often but in all truth and honesty, this saying applies to us all: "the same wind blows on us all, it's not the wind that determines our destination, it's the set of our sails." In other words, you choose where you want to be in life. I never understood this concept before because no one introduced it to me, but after hearing it from him, I heard something "click" inside me, like a key was turning from within. I'm not sure if everyone can relate to this, but once a key opens from within, it's like you've been shown light at the end of the tunnel and your purpose becomes razor sharp. That is truly inspirational to me because this one person was able to inspire me to find my passion in life and fuel my burning desire to achieve it. It's not very often that people can do that, but when they do, it is the most inspiring thing that ever happens to you. And you will be forever grateful.

My inspiring person is more so a group of people who are overcoming disadvantages to help themselves lead a better life. I'm talking about the lovely people you see standing on the street selling copies of The Big Issue. The motto behind this magazine is 'A hand up, not a hand out' it gives unemployed and homeless people the opportunity to get some extra money, learn skills, get work experience and interact in a community that often leaves them behind. The reason I find these people so inspiring is that they could easy just rely on welfare or asking for money on the streets, but they get out there and want to help themselves. Wether it's 40 degrees in Summer or freezing cold in Winter they stand there selling a great magazine to get ahead in life. I find these actions courageous and encouraging, if someone so disadvantaged can get out there and make a go at life then everyone else can do the same.

Hi Ally,

I think this is an excellent idea for the challenge this month. Great work!

Approximately 8 months ago I had the privilege of meeting a gentleman by the name of Nicholas Duncan. For anybody who does not already know Nicholas, he has founded an organisation called Save Foundation set up to protect the Rhino population of Africa.

To many people this would seem like a task too big to even consider but Nicholas continues to strive to achieve his goal of putting an end to the poaching of Rhinos.

There are many aspects of Nicholas I could talk about but one in particular that has greatly impressed me is his complete dedication to the cause. Nicholas has given more than 110% of his time and resources to this cause and constantly expects and inspires everybody else to do the same.

It is his passion and commitment to this cause that 'gets the job done' and constantly finds new ways to fight poaching. From knowing Nicholas for only a short period of time now I fully believe that if anybody tackles an issue or a project with even just half the passion that Nicholas tackles a project with they will go far and beyond achieving their targeted results.

Thank you for the opportunity Ally to briefly share Nicholas' story. For anybody interested in any further information on the foundation please visit http://www.savefoundation.org.au/
