“We aim to create a jamming space for young people to express themselves through music and provide opportunities to experience music through unique, hands-on workshops”

Who are we?
A group of seven young people
aged between 19-26 years with
a passion for music.

What is it all about?

• opportunities for young people to engage in a variety of fun music activities
• participation in the arts and develop music skills of young people
• involvement of young people in local events/activities
• giving young people a say in the planning of a community music space

How are we going to do it?

Phase 1: organise a series of music workshops (e.g. junk percussion, jam sessions, drumming, starting your own band) for young people aged 15 – 25 years
AND
recruit several young people to get involved in poster and website design, assisting with the workshops and guiding phase 2...

Phase 2: create a music space for young people for jamming, music workshops and performances.

Oh wow wow, this is awesome (I stumbled on this too)! My brother and I would be very interested to join. Particulary my brother- the music guru (he makes his own music and vids. Plays like every instrument... I just sing amateurly. Haha!) Thanks for this space. In and around commitments I'd love to see how I/we can contribute =)

Oh the Crustacean Cup thing?

I forget what the comp is called - I'll find out and let you know. Healthways sponsors it with a grant.

Hey Marisa

Very exciting, glad you stumbled across our little group here as well!!

The info in our profile is still from last year (woops) but some of it stands the same (at least what we stand for and our long term goal) but this year we are helping organise a battle of the bands - it is next Friday actually!!

I can't seem to find the contest on the website...can you please forward through a link??

Hey Justin,

I hereby volunteer to come up with band names and write reviews (be forewarned, I will be brutally honest) for RTR FM.

But also, RTR FM runs a contest every year for upcoming local bands so that might be a goal for some of the young musos to work towards.

Great job Justin with the group! Well done!

I've just come across Jump - http://www.jumpmentoring.com.au/, a mentoring program for emerging artists. It may be great for you to check out!
